This course will build on student’s prior knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, word usage, speaking and listening, and the mechanics of writing to develop their critical thinking and writing skills. Composition instruction includes but is not limited to narratives, poetry, research and argumentative essays. This course will also expose students to the writing process as it applies to literature and informational text. Students will follow MLA formatting and ADE rubrics to develop their academic writing skills. This course is designed to meet the requirements of the Arizona Language Arts Standards

    Math 8

    Math 8 focuses on pre-algebra and is an extension of the concepts taught in previous math courses. This course will emphasize the application of pre-algebraic concepts to prepare for high school math courses. Students will begin the course by exploring the philosophical antecedents upon which the US is based through primary source analysis, research, debate, and writing. Students will continue their course of study evaluating the application of American constitutional principles to modern society. Additionally, students will evaluate how humans have shaped both the political and environmental landscape.
