Dear Kindergartener,
Howling greetings to you, my new friend! I'm Copper the Coyote, and I've been eagerly waiting to tell you just how excited I am that you'll be joining us at Cambridge Academy. You're about to embark on a thrilling adventure, and I can't wait to be a part of it with you!
We have a very special friend named Rocky, a wise desert tortoise who's also eagerly anticipating your arrival. He's excited to share in all the fun we have planned here at our little desert school.
I want you to mark your calendar because on July 22, 2026 (Our 1st Day of School), our journey together begins! But before that, we have a special night just for you and your family on July 20, 2026 – Meet the Teacher night. It's going to be an evening filled with excitement and anticipation!
I can already picture all the fun we'll have as we learn and grow together here at Cambridge. From reading stories to exploring new worlds, there's so much to discover! And do you know what's even more exciting? You'll be part of the 8th grade graduating class of 2035!
So, get ready for a tail-waggin good time filled with laughter, friendship, and lots of learning. I can't wait to see all the amazing things you'll accomplish!
With boundless excitement,
Copper the Coyote
A Letter from Copper the Coyote:
Where a Love of Learning Begins
Kindergarten is where a child’s love of learning first takes root. At Cambridge Academy, our classrooms are designed to nurture curiosity, build confidence, and help every student feel known from day one. We welcome children of all backgrounds and learning styles, meeting each child where they are while encouraging both academic growth and strong character. In a close-knit, community-focused environment, students begin their school journey with support, joy, and a sense of belonging.
-
Early Literacy – Building strong readers through stories, phonics, and a love of books.
Creative Exploration – Encouraging imagination through art, play, and hands-on discovery.
Foundational Math Skills – Helping students become confident early problem-solvers.
Interactive Learning – Learning by doing, questioning, and exploring together each day.
Personalized Attention – Small class sizes that allow for meaningful support and real growth.
Celebrating Progress – Recognizing every milestone, big or small.
Confident Communication – Helping students express themselves, share ideas, and grow their voice.
-
Assessments empower kids to know where they are at and where we may need to improve on our instruction and our curriculum. At Cambridge, we monitor students progress in fluency and comprehension. To help your student be prepared, try the following at home:
Practice tracing, letter names, letter sounds
Work on the concept of numbers 0–10
Hands-on play to increase motor skills (playdough, finger painting, coloring, etc.)
Check out the Starfall Website for additional online resources.

Children who turn 5 between October 1 and December 31 may be eligible for Kindergarten.
Our Kindergarten classrooms are a full kindergarten program, not Pre-K (for preschool, check out our Cambridge Pups program!)
Space is limited, and students may be placed on a waitlist once the class is full.
Students who are ready may advance to 1st grade the following school year.
